Collecting your award - a creative visioning exercise

An in-person creative visioning exercise for you to work through with your team. The end task for the activity will be for you all to write individual award acceptance speeches to deliver at a glittering ceremony, and collectively create an Action Plan to lead you in that direction.

Creating your Action Plan

Based mostly on the previous exercise but also not forgetting the entirety of the days work, as the group as a whole create your Action Plan for the coming 18 months that will stand you in good stead for attending that glittering ceremony in three and a half years time.

This is not a theoretical exercise, we are not here in this session in the day to create a work of fiction, we are here to create a plan of fact, that will be looked at in team meetings every other month and progress checked.

Each item on the plan should be a tangible action with an intended outcome with a sentence outlining what success looks like. As the team manager you have overall responsibility for the delivery of the plan as a whole, but you are not responsible for every item on the plan. As a group decide on who will take ownership of each item on the plan. This does not necessarily mean that person will actually do the Thing, but they're indicating they care sufficiently about that Thing that they want to be the person who makes sure it gets done.

Pay particular heed to the constraints which got the most spotty labels on them in creating the plan, and consider how you can embed the learning from the team members' previous successes into the permanent working culture. Were any of the ideas which came up in the session where you imagined things into existence ideas which you might try to deliver for real? Put them in the plan too.

Spend about 45 minutes doing this, and then go for a 15 minute afternoon break.
