Collecting your award - a creative visioning exercise

An in-person creative visioning exercise for you to work through with your team. The end task for the activity will be for you all to write individual award acceptance speeches to deliver at a glittering ceremony, and collectively create an Action Plan to lead you in that direction.

Writing and delivering your award acceptance speeches

You will now individually spend about 15 minutes writing your individual speeches.

Although the Action Plan and the exercise to plan the speeches were group exercises, each individual speech is for each team member themself to write, reflecting what has been important to them personally from what has been learned during the day.

You may or may not have attended a glittering awards ceremony in the past, or you may have seen one on television. You may be a big team with a lot of speeches to hear, or you may be a small team with only a few. Either way, remember that long speeches are boring speeches. Nobody likes listening to boring speeches.

After the 15 minutes, everybody gives their speech. Everybody applauds enthusiastically. You spend some time sharing any reflections from the day's exercises amongst yourselves. You take photos of all the sticky notes from the wall and take them down, and decide who is going to write up what as the permanent record of the day. You then repair to a culturally inclusive Place of Refreshment to celebrate and think further about that award you're going to win in three and a half years time - or even sooner!
